Dell Selling Sony BRAVIA LCDs

Round Rock, Texas – For the first time, Dell has started selling another vendors television models with the recent addition of two Sony BRAVIA LCDs to its online store.

The BRAVIAs, a 40-inch and 46-inch, join Dell’s LCD line. Dell has sold printers and music players from other companies, but this is the first time it has added a third-party TV manufacturer. The company said it is considering adding products from other vendors, but it gave no further details.

A Sony spokesman said the company has offered products through Dell.com in the past so the extension of selected televisions through this channel is not so unusual and Sony will continue to support a variety of channels based on our mutual success and consumer preferences.

He added that Sony continues to embrace a multichannel strategy in the United States that offers the products to consumers through a variety of environments where they choose to shop, including authorized retail partners’ storefronts and e-commerce Web sites

The move is the first major product announcement since Dell’s founder Michael Dell replaced Kevin Rollins as company CEO last week.
