Round Rock, Texas – Dell posted a GAAP net income of $545
million, up 16 percent on sales of $15.5 billion for its second quarter, ended
July 31.
The company credited its server and networking business for much
of the boost.
Dell’s consumer segment was flat, generating $2.9 billion in
sales for the period resulting in a $21 million operating income loss. Sales in
the American market were up 17 percent for the quarter and the company noted that
47 percent of all consumer-product revenue came from outside the United States.
