Fountain Valley, Calif. — D-Link has begun shipping the next generation of its gaming router, the DGL-4500 draft 802.11n Xtreme N gaming router.
According to the company, this latest gaming router offers the power of D-Link Draft 802.11n Wi-Fi combined with the an updated version of the company’s GameFuel technology, which gives online games priority for bandwidth over all other Internet applications, email and FTP transfers.
The router is said to be optimized for both PC gaming and for popular gaming consoles like the Xbox and PlayStation. It incorporates D-Link’s Xtreme N Duo wireless technology so users can choose the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band, a high-performance CPU and a network activity display so users can instantly review network settings like security types, network speeds, wireless network names and more.
A release said the game-centric user interface of the gaming router allows for the configuration of multiple ports or port ranges in the firewall simply by selecting the game title from a menu. The D-Link Xtreme N Gaming Router’s Web interface is said to enable users to quickly access and change settings and adjust performance for individual applications.
In terms of security, the product supports standards including Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA-2), and advanced firewall features like Network Address Translation (NAT), Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) Pass-Through/Multi-Sessions.
The DGL-4500 features four gigabit LAN ports, one gigabit WAN port and a USB port for Windows Connect Now, along with three external reverse SMA dual band antennas.
