Custom Home Theater Seating Options Abound On Expo Floor

INDIANAPOLIS — When it comes to designing a home theater room, theater-style seating is one of the most stylish, and comfortable, ways to personalize. Expo attendees will be faced with hundreds of options to choose from.

Acoustic Innovations (booth 3641) is showing its full range of home theater accessories including custom seating, acoustic wall and ceiling treatments, sound isolation materials and fiberoptic ceiling finishes.

The company’s home theater seating lines include fabric, ultrasuede and leather recliner models, most available with Power Glide motorized reclining, heat and massage settings, power lumbar adjustment and exposed or hidden cupholders.

Recliners are available in 21-, 24-, 27- and 42-inch widths. Bean bag chairs, ottomans and bar stools to match the recliners’ finishes are also offered, as are 24-, 36-inch and custom-sized chaise lounge models.

One unique offering is the Ottoman Sleeper, a traditional footrest with a hideaway, fold-out, twin-sized sleeper bed inside.

All of the company’s furniture is hand-made in its High Point, N.C., plant. Prices for basic seating models start at $1,300 for fabric, $1,850 for genuine leather.

First Impressions Theme Theaters (booth 802), a custom home theater room designer from North Miami, Fla., is showing its line of custom CineLounger theater seating. The CineLounger line includes handmade, built to order, multi-position recliners, space-saving incliners, radical-tilt rockers and radical-tilt rocker-recliners.

The CineLoungers are individual chairs with two arms, that can be joined to other CineLounger chairs as well as CineLoveSeats, CineSofas, CineChaises, CineSleepSofas or any combination thereof. There are five standard seat back and arm styles to choose from (round, square, soft square, modified round and camel back,) with seven standard seat widths from 19 inches to 28 inches.

They feature ergonomically designed lumbar back supports with 100- to 125-degree adjustabilty; fixed tilt-back neck rests or hidden pop-up headrests; 5-inch thick multi-layered, fire-rated foam filled back and reversible seat cushions; 2-inch deep drink holders with leather coaster inserts; and convex neck and headrest supports to enhance surround sound effects.

The collection also includes rolling and fixed stools, kid-sized seating and even a custom dog chaise lounge with built-in dog bowl.

Fortress Seating (booth 3224), which at previous CEDIA Expos introduced custom theater seat options such as motorized tray tables, adjustable back heights and motorized touch screen lifts, is this year introducing motorized adjustable seatheight recliners. The chair models have motorized legs that can lift the seat an additional 7 inches.

The feature is available across the company’s line of 26 recliner models. Other features that can be customized across the line include variable heat/massage, hide-a-beds, retractable and pocket arms, concealed cup holders, sliding drawer storage and aisle lights, among many others.

Front Row Seating (booth 3426) is back at CEDIA with its ultra-contemporary custom home theater seating in fabric and leather finishes.

Among the designs on display here are two models that are factory-ready to incorporate D-Box Technology’s motion-simulation system that works with supporting movie and game titles. Currently the D-Box system supports a library of more than 1,000 Blu-ray movie titles.

The rest of line consists of about 15 recliners and incliner models available in chair, loveseat and sofa configurations, most with motorized mechanisms included, some with it optional.

The company builds all models by hand in its Canadian factories using dried hardwood frames.

Dallas-based United Leather USA (booth 2411) will be exhibiting its handmade custom leather and microfiber suede theater seating.

The company offers six grades of hand-cut leather in more than 100 colors and microfiber suede in more than 50 colors. All chairs are constructed from kilndried hardwood, with nylon-based thread and a high resiliency foam core with a proprietary coating that the company said allows more efficient air diffusion, which prolongs its lifespan and allows it to return to its original state far longer than conventional foam.

United offers 20 different theater seating models including recliners, incliners and loveseats.
