Crosley’s John Colbert Dies, 54

Winston-Salem, N.C. — Crosley Appliances president John Colbert died suddenly last week while attending the BrandSource convention in Orlando, Fla. He was 54.

A former sales director for Jenn-Air and Maytag, Colbert was sales and marketing VP of W.C. Wood for six years before assuming the president’s post at Crosley in 2004.

Colbert is survived by his wife, daughter, mother and brother. The family said in a statement: “John excelled throughout his 30-year career in the appliance industry; at the time of his passing, John was fulfilling his professional dream as president of Crosley Corp.”

Services will be held Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at the Bermuda Run Country Club, 324 Bermuda Run Drive, Bermuda Run, N.C. 27006.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are made to the John D. Colbert Memorial Scholarship c/o the University of Tennessee Foundation — Tennessee Fund, 1551 Lake Loudoun Blvd., Knoxville, TN 27996, and to  note “In memory of John D. Colbert” on the memo line.

Crosley has not announced a successor.
