Creative Positions Tablets For Entertainment

Milpitas, Calif. –
Creative Technology is positioning its first tablets as home and portable
entertainment devices with upgraded audio performance for use with wireless
Bluetooth speakers and Bluetooth headphones.

Four
Wi-Fi-equipped Android 2.1 tablets, dubbed ZiiO Pure Wireless Entertainment
Tablets, will be available in 7-inch and 10-inch versions, each in two memory
capacities. They’ll be accompanied by three other Android 2.1 devices, the Zen
Touch 2 Wireless Entertainment Devices with 3.2-inch touchscreens.

All seven SKUs will
be available through the company’s online store at creative.com/shop and
through authorized U.S. dealers beginning early December. They’ll also be
displayed at January’s CES.

The seven SKUs,
priced from a suggested $199 to $319, feature touchscreens and ability to
download Android apps from Creative’s ZiiStore.

The four ZiiO SKUs
are the 7-inch 8GB tablet at $249, the 7-inch 16GB tablet at $269, the 10-inch
8GB tablet at $299, and the 10-inch 16GB tablet at $319. The 16GB models will be
available only through Creative’s online store. The 7-inch models will be
available in white, while the 10-inch models will be available in black.

The three Zen
Touch 2 SKUs include a version with GPS, digital compass and FM radio. That
model will be available with 8GB memory at $199.99 only through Creative’s
online store. The other two versions will be an 8GB unit at $189 and a 16GB
unit at $209.

To boost audio
playback performance, the ZiiO models incorporate multiple proprietary
technologies, including the company’s low-latency Bluetooth apt-X codec to
deliver high-quality audio wirelessly to speakers and headphones equipped with
apt-X Bluetooth technology. X-Fi Crystalizer restores lost detail in
compressed-music files. And X-Fi Expand widens and deepens game and movie sound
fields through headphones and through the embedded stereo speakers.

The3.2-inch
devices also stream stereo via Bluetooth to Bluetooth speakers and headphones
but lack the ZiiO’s audio enhancements, according to information sheets
supplied by the company.

Other ZiiO
features include HDMI output, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, web browser, front-facing
camera, accelerometer, built-in microphone, embedded stereo speakers, and
support for multiple audio, video and digital-image formats.

The 7-inch model features 480 by 800 display
with MicroSD Card slot supporting 32GB cards. The 10-inch version features 1,024
by 600 display with 32GB SD card slot. Their batteries deliver 25 hours of
music playback or five hours of video playback.

Both ZiiO models are
0.54 inches deep. The 7-inch version weighs 14 ounces, and the 10-inch version
weighs 22.75 ounces.

The three
pocket-size Zen Touch 2 devices feature 3.2-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi
802.11b/g/n, accelerometer, built-in speaker, 2-megapixel camera, composite-video
out, and MicroSD card slot. The 8GB enhanced version adds GPS, digital compass
and FM radio.

The ZiiO tablets come with optional leather
case, spare stylus, screen protector, and universal power adapter with four
interchangeable plugs.

Also new from
Creative is the WP-300 Wireless on-ear headphones with apt-X Bluetooth
technology and flat-fold ear cups at a suggested $99.99.

A new apt-X Bluetooth 2.1 speaker system is
the ZiiSound T6, the flagship in the Pure Wireless speaker series. The $399-suggested
system works with all compatible stereo Bluetooth devices, including notebooks,
netbooks, the iPhone, iPad, PCs, Macs and tablets.

The ZiiSound T6 comes with BT-D1 Bluetooth USB
transmitter, and for a promotional period, the $39.99 BT-D5 iPod/iPhone/iPad
Bluetooth transmitter is included free. It will be available at Creative’s
online store in mid December.
