Contour Ships 3D Glasses Batteries To Retailers

Azusa, Calif. – Perhaps a sign that 3D TV may be gaining some
traction at retail is the decision by some major retailers to begin stocking
replacement coin-cell batteries for active-shutter 3D glasses in time for the
holiday shopping season.

Contour Energy Systems announced the company’s 2025 and 2032 coin-cell
batteries, specifically designed for 3D TV active-shutter glasses, are
available through newly established retail partnerships with Amazon, Fry’s
Electronics and One Call, as well as CE distributor Petra.

Contour in its release cited research by the Consumer Electronics
Association showing “relatively strong demand for 3D TV” — with sales of more
than 3 million 3D TVs in 2010 and potential sales to nearly triple to 8.25
million in 2011.
