CompUSA Launches Back-To-School Promotion

Dallas — CompUSA has kicked off a back-to-school promotion that includes bundled products, discounts on select items and technical services, and an instant-win sweepstakes.

The effort, dubbed “CompUSA on Campus,” will run from July 22 through Aug. 25.

The product bundles, or “campus packs,” feature a variety of items such as printers, software, backpacks and CDs. The packs, valued at over $200, will be available for as low as $17 after savings and rebates and with the purchase of a desktop or laptop computer. New back-to-school packs will be available online weekly at www.compusa.com and in all CompUSA stores.

In addition, the chain will also offer discounts on select SKUs including:

  • a 2GB flash drive, for $20;
  • a Lexmark wireless all-in-one-printer, for $99 after rebate;
  • Maxtor’s OneTouch III, 1 Terabyte external hard drive, for $330;
  • LG’s 24W-inch LCD flat-panel monitor, for $600;
  • A Hewlett-Packard notebook with 17W-inch screen and 64-bit dual-core processor, for $800 after rebate;
  • the HP Compaq v6444us Windows XP Pro Notebook, for $900 after rebate; and
  • an HP Pavilion media center, with 20W-inch monitor and printer, for $1,000 after rebate.

“While it’s essential that students get the technology they need, purchasing products is just half of the equation,” noted Paul Ewert, executive VP and general merchandising manager of CompUSA. “New products often bring new questions, and this is why CompUSA is also providing a special technology services offer to make sure students have the complete package to help them excel at school.”

To that end, CompUSA’s TechPro service will provide unlimited technology assistance for 30 days via phone, chat or remote login for $30 for customers who purchase a desktop or laptop.

“We thought is was important to provide parents with the peace of mind that no matter where their children are, at home or away at school, they have access to an expert around the clock when they need technical advice,” Ewert said.

The retailer is also marking the back-to-school season with an instant-win, no purchase necessary sweepstakes. Consumers can play by bringing a game piece — found in CompUSA Sunday inserts or online at www.compusa.com/compusaoncampus — to a CompUSA store for scanning. Winnings include a $10,000 grand prize, 10 HP notebooks, more than 1,000 gift cards totaling $30,000 and discounts off store purchases.

In addition to the in-store sweepstakes, consumers can also enter an online sweepstakes at the CompUSAcampus site and receive a compusa.com coupon code for free shipping on all products except TVs.
