Houston – Compaq Computers today issued a worldwide recall for 1.4 million notebook AC adapters after it received reports that they were catching fire.
The company said five cases of fires burning inside the adapters had been reported, but these did not result in any injuries. About 594,000 of the adapters affected by the recall were sold in the U.S. Compaq is urging its customers to immediately discontinue using the adapters and call the company for a replacement.
The adapters are marked with the model serial numbers PPP003SD, PPP003 and PP2012 and were sold with the following notebook computers: the Armadas M300, M700, E500, 100s, 110, 3500 E500s, Prosignia 170 and Notebook 100.
