Company Integrates Speakers, Screen

Indianapolis — Screen Research of Mission Viejo, Calif., plans to unveil an acoustically transparent, motorized retractable screen with integrated left, center and right speakers that rise and lower with it.

The system, called Le Wing, will be available in a 16:9 aspect ratio in 80-inch and 96-inch models. It will ship in November at a suggested retail price starting at $15,700.

The system “solves the problem of wanting to preserve the aesthetics of the room and allowing enjoyment of high-level performance with one system,” said StJohn Group’s sales director John Caldwell. “When using the room for something other than video projection, the screen and front channel speakers are discretely hidden away in a designer-friendly wing-shaped housing.”

The system is also useful in such commercial applications as news rooms, control centers, post-production facilities, corporate boardrooms, education facilities, museums, theme parks and sport arenas, the company said.

StJohn Group is the exclusive North and Central American distributor for Screen Research. The full range of projection-screen products from Screen Research will be featured at CEDIA.

The speakers are supplied and custom-tuned by Triangle Industries, which plans to introduce a new line of speakers, including surrounds and subwoofers, under the Screen Research brand name.
