Circuit To Offer Spare Backup Service

Palm Desert, Calif. — Online data backup provider Spare Backup said starting next week a free 30-day trial of the service will be offered to all consumers buying a computer at Circuit City.

Customers interested in extending use of the service beyond the trial period will be charged $4.99 per month for an unlimited amount of storage space. The service scans and backs up a participating computer daily. The content is duplicated and stored in two data centers on the East and West coasts. The data is triple-encrypted and can be accessed from any broadband-connected PC.

Circuit City’s technical support team will install the software at the store.

Cery Perle, Spare Backup’s CEO said, “This agreement with Circuit City not only gives PC owners an option to try before they buy, but it also provides a new and highly visible marketing channel for the service. This is a significant development in our efforts to increase market penetration and demonstrate the value of our service to potential long-term customers.”
