Richmond, Va. — Bruce Besanko will become executive VP and chief financial officer of Circuit City on July 30.
His appointment marks the culmination of a months-long search for a successor to Michael Foss, who left the No. 2 CE chain in April for the chief financial officer spot at Petco.
Besanko comes to Circuit City from The Yankee Candle, a designer, manufacturer wholesaler and retailer of premium scented candles, where he was finance senior VP and chief financial officer since April 2005. Previously, he served as finance VP at Best Buy for three years and held several financial leadership positions in Sears’ hardlines business from 1996 to 2002.
“Bruce is an analytical, results-oriented CFO who combines a solid track record in managing finance operations with consumer electronics retailing experience,” said Circuit City chief executive Phil Schoonover. “His background and experience will be a valuable addition to our senior leadership team.”
