Delray Beach, Fla. — Office Depot has hired two former top Circuit City merchants to fill similar roles at the office supply retail chain.
Kim Maguire, one-time chief merchandising officer of Circuit City, will head Office Depot’s merchandising organization. Randy Wick, formerly consumer electronics senior VP/general merchandise manager for the CE chain, was named merchandising, strategy and services VP.
Maguire joined Circuit City in 2001 from Target, where he was senior VP of hardline goods merchandising. He left Circuit City in 2004 for QVC, where he was chief merchandising officer for two years.
“Kim’s track record of driving sales and profitability with world-class merchandising teams makes him the perfect leader for this very important organization within Office Depot,” said Chuck Rubin, North American retail president at Office Depot. “We are delighted that Kim has agreed to join the Office Depot team.”
Wick joined Circuit City from Best Buy in 2004. In his new role, he will lead Office Depot’s service and solutions offerings, including the continued rollout of Tech Depot, the chain’s IT support service. He succeeds Stephen Olsen, who was named supplies merchandising VP.
