CES 2011: Volfoni Shows Active/Passive Cross-over 3D Glasses

Las Vegas – European supplier Volfoni introduced here at CES a
pair of 3D glasses that are said to work with both active and passive 3D TVs.

The company is calling it Activeyes line “the world’s first
totally universal eyewear, compatible with all active and passive 3DTVs and PC
monitors currently available on the market.”

The glasses feature a two-piece solution, composed of passive
glasses and a dongle that drives an active-shutter mode. The glasses weigh just
over one ounce.

The glasses are being demonstrated at booth 25711, South Hall,
along with two other models optically optimized for 3DTVs or PC monitors.

“We are excited to showcase our innovative Activeyes
patent-pending product at this year’s CES,” said Thierry Henkinet, Volfoni
president. “Activeyes is truly universal and intelligent eyewear. They are
compatible with all 3DTV sets, PC monitors and most movie theaters and you can
wear them outside.”

Volfoni introduced its EDGE 1.0 active-shutter glasses for the
professional market in September. Activeyes is the company’s first consumer
product.
