CES ’14 Draws Top Celebs, Athletes

Las Vegas – The 2014 International CES will feature Hollywood stars, popular musicians, sports legends and TV personalities promoting innovative products and technologies revolutionizing the ways consumers work, play, connect and access information.

CES, which will run from Jan. 7 to 10, here, will feature a wide range of celebrities.

Maria Menounos will serve as the Entertainment Matters Ambassador for the Entertainment Matters at CES program. Entertainment Matters is a content-focused CES program developed for Hollywood’s film, television and digital communities.

New for the 2014 CES, Variety’s Breakthrough of the Year Awards will celebrate a diverse range of talent from the fields of film, television, music, comedy and more at this premiere red carpet event. Actor, comedian, rapper and radio/TV personality Nick Cannon will host the awards on Thursday, January 9 in the LVH, LVH Theatre.

At the Breakthrough of the Year Awards, Olivia Munn will be honored as Breakthrough Actressand Janelle Monae will be honored as Breakthrough Music Artist. Amy Schumer will be honored for Breakthrough Comedy. Actress Kristen Bell will accept the Breakthrough Film honor on behalf of the film “Veronica Mars.”

Proclaiming “the Hoppa” as an innovation worth celebrating, Dish will welcome its trio of “Boston Guys” to the 2014 CES.  The three “Boston Guys” continue to star in DISH commercials promoting the in-home and on-the-go functionality of the Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR.  The actors from the DISH commercials will appear at the DISH booth (LVCC, Central Hall, booth 8243) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, January 7 to greet CES attendees.

Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter/producer and acclaimed fashion designer Pharrell Williams will sign autographs and talk with fans from 2 -3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 8 at the Liquipel booth (LVCC, South Hall 4, booth 36067). Williams will be helping the company unveil its new Liquipel 360 program. Prior to this, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, Liquipel will be handing out its shock-absorbent Skins for smartphones to the first 100 people who stop by.

Rapper, entrepreneur, investor and actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will make an appearance and sign autographs from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8, at the SMS Audio booth (LVCC, South Hall 1, booth #21313). SMS audio combines technology, function and style to bring the highest caliber of sound, comfort and fashion to every product.

Rohan Marley and Ky-mani Marley, sons of music icon Bob Marley, will attend the 2014 CES with House of Marley. Rohan will be available for interviews at the House of Marley booth (LVCC, Central Hall, 15273) throughout the show, January 7-10. Ky-mani Marley will perform at the House of Marley booth at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8.

Garrett McNamara, American professional big wave surfer known for breaking the world record for largest wave ever surfed in Nazaré, Portugal, will autograph hats at the Body Glove Mobile booth (LVCC, South Hall 3, booth 31129) from 1-5 p.m. on Tuesday, January, 7 and Wednesday, January 8. McNamara is one of only two people in the world to surf tsunami waves created by calving glaciers.

Professional mixed martial artist and actor Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will accompany Trident Case at the 2014 CES. Jackson will appear at the Trident Case booth (LVCC, North Hall, booth 4812) 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, January 8.

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen will play chess in public at the 2014 CES for the first time since winning the championship in Chennai, India in November 2013. As part of the Nordic Semiconductor team, Carlsen will play a simuli with 20 amateur players from 3-6 p.m. Thursday January 9 in LVCC, South Hall Connector, Room S228. In the same location from 1-2 p.m. Thursday January 9 from 1-2pm, Nordic will host a press conference with Magnus Carlsen and present a Nordic-enabled heart rate monitor wristband that will give the audience the chance to see all players’ heart rate on a large screen as they play. Carlsen will also sign autographs, chessboards and other memorabilia on Wednesday January 8 from 3-4 pm at Nordic Semiconductor’s booth (LVCC, South Hall 2, MP25277).

College football analyst for ESPN’s upcoming SEC Network, former NFL Quarterback, Heisman trophy winner and two-time NCAA National Football Championship winner Tim Tebow and American mixed martial artist, former semi-professional football player and finalist and the runner-up of Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” Brendan Schaub will attend the 2014 CES as ambassadors for SOUL Electronics. Tebow and Schaub will appear at SOUL’s press conference from 4-5 Wednesday, January 8 in LVCC, South Hall Connector, Room S228. They will also attend the SOUL CES After Party at TAO (in The Venetian) on Thursday, January 9. Doors open at 10 p.m.

CBS Interactive’s CNET will bring stars of the network’s new television series “INTELLIGENCE” to their “INTELLIGENCE” Premiere Party at the 2014 CES at 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 7 outside of TAO Las Vegas, located in The Venetian. The series stars Josh Holloway (“Lost”) as a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. Marg Helgenberger (“CSI”) stars as Lillian Strand, the Director of the elite government cyber-security agency. Meghan Ory (“Once Upon a Time”) stars as a Secret Service agent in the series.

Voted “The Greatest DJ Of All Time” by Mixmag, #1 DJ by Rolling Stone and recipient of the inaugural “Legend Award” from DJ Mag, legendary DJ and producer Tiësto, will hold a press conference at the Audiofly booth (LVCC, South Hall 1, booth #20425) from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, January 7.  He will announce the Club Life by Tiësto line of in-ear headphones. This new line brings cutting-edge sound, comfort and fashion to each pair of in-ear headphones. Tiësto and Dave Thompson, CEO of Audiofly will discuss their mutual love of music and the creation of the Club Life by Tiësto in-ear headphones.

Jabbawockeez, the all-male, hip-hop dance crew best known for winning season one of MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,” will join Hisense Corporation at the 2014 CES. The group will perform in Hisense’s booth (LVCC, Central Hall, booth #7243) at Noon Tuesday, January 7, and 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 8 through Friday, January 10.

American vocalist and musician, best known as the lead vocalist of heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, Vince Neil will represent Marshall Headphones at the 2014 CES. Neil will speak to fans and sign autographs in the Zound Industries booth (LVCC, South Hall 1, booth #21718) from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8. On Thursday, January 9, DJ Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia will appear in the booth from 4-6 p.m. representing Urbanears, An open bar will be on site serving free drinks to those who visit the booth during these time.

Ana Sia, world-renowned DJ who focuses on “house” style music, will perform five, 25 minute sets at Accessory Power’s booth (LVCC, South Hall 3, booth #31665) at the 2014 CES. Sia has performed with names like Pretty Lights and Glitch Mob amongst other famous artists. She will perform her original music in addition to mixing other popular music. Accessory Power’s ambassador, TabletMan, an interactive character that highlights their most popular and upcoming items, will also accompany them to the 2014 CES, walking the show floor daily from Tuesday, January 7 through Friday, January 10.

ZTE Corporation will bring seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry to the 2014 CES. Horry will make his appearance at ZTE’s booth (LVCC, South Hall 3, booth 31431) from 11 a.m.-Noon Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8.

Germán Quiroga, an up-and-coming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series racer, will appear in the OtterBox booth (LVCC, North Hall, booth 4631) with the No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, January 8. Autographs and photo ops will be available.

Tim “Ringy” Saylor and George “KG” Wyant, starts of National Geographic Channel’s “Diggers” will accompany Garrett Metal Detectors to the 2014 CES. Saylor and Wyant will appear in the Garrett Metal Detectors booth (LVCC, South Hall 4, booth 35401) from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 9.

As part of the Kids@Play conference track at the 2014 CES, Reading Rainbow’s LeVar Burton will participate in a panel discussion during The End of the One Hit Wonder conference session (LVCC, North Hall, Room N256) at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, January 8.

Justin Wong of Evil Geniuses, American competitive gamer, specializing in fighting games, will join BenQ American Corp. at the 2014 CES. Media and gamers are invited to play Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on Xbox with Wong in BenQ’s booth (LVCC, South Hall 2, MP25067), from 10:30 a.m.-Noon and 2:30-4 p.m. on Thursday, January 9.

Celebrity “Rock n’ Roll” chef Kerry Simon, executive chef and proprietor at “Simon” in Las Vegas’ Palms Place Hotel, will be showcasing his talents in a truly unique way at the 2014 CES. Sponsored by Lynx Grills, Simon will cook a savory hot breakfast for members of the media from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8 at the CES Lynx Lounge, located at the Renaissance Las Vegas pool area, across the street from the Convention Center.  This event has limited capacity. 

Mastering Engineer and co-founder of Sheffield Labs, Doug Sax, will accompany ATC Loudspeakers/Lane Mountain Audio in their Venetian Suite (29-227) at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8.

Former NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria will join Lighting Science at the 2014 CES in their booth (LVCC, South Hall 2, booth #26428) from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, January 7. Lopez-Alegria will discuss his experience with Lighting Science products on board the International Space Station. 

Jen Sidorova, Miss East Coast 2013, will attend the 2014 CES with Charmtech Labs LLC. She will be available for interviews and photos at Charmtech Labs’ booth (Venetian, Level 1, booth 74111) throughout the show.
