CEA Lauds Spectrum Bill

Arlington, Va. – The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) today hailed the introduction of the House of Representatives bill H.R. 3674, The Federal Spectrum Incentive Act.

The bill was introduced by Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) and Doris Matsui (D-Calif.), co-chairs of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Spectrum Working Group. The bill will provide financial incentives to encourage government agencies to terminate or share with other federal agencies their existing spectrum assignments to free up spectrum for commercial use.

“We welcome this innovative, bipartisan legislation. Effective and efficient use of spectrum, both commercial and federal, is vital to ensuring that our nation has enough supply to keep up with demand,” said Veronica O’Connell, CEA’s VP, congressional affairs.

The bill will go to markup on Dec. 11.
