CE Industry Vet Terry O’Flynn, 60, Passes Away

Former Recoton and Mitsubishi executive Terry O’Flynn passed away on Aug. 27 of cancer

O’Flynn’s last position in the industry was as president of Recoton Accessories. Previously, he served as president of Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics of America.

Outside of his work related duties, O’Flynn was on the Consumer Electronic Association’s executive board and board of directors, and he chaired the CEA’s accessory division. Under his leadership, the accessories division launched the Total Sales Initiative, which helps retailers increase sales of accessory products, and began development of the Connections Guide.

“The CEA family joins the O’Flynn family and friends in mourning the loss of Terry O’Flynn,” said CEA President Gary Shapiro. “Terry inspired us all with his passion for life and his love of the consumer electronics industry. He was such a joy to be around — his enthusiasm and good humor were contagious. All who knew him in our industry will miss his charm, quick wit and commitment to contributing to the continued health and growth of the consumer electronics industry.”

O’Flynn is survived by his wife Sharon and their three children.
