CE Express Is Planning Cancer Bike Tour

Denver — The CE Express team of consumer electronics industry cyclists, spearheaded by CEDIA president Ken Smith, is planning its next “Tour for the Cure,” a bike tour to raise money for cancer research.

The tour will feature a series of regional two-day rides around the U.S. and a grand finale event here at CEDIA Expo 2007.

Last year’s tour was a more than 2,200 mile journey that began in Augusta Maine and ended in Denver. The tour raised over $40,000 for cancer research; the proceeds from the ride were donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Research in Maine.

This year the group’s goal is to raise $80,000.

In order to meet the goal, CE Express is calling out to the industry for help on a number of fronts. There is a need for riders and for team captains. The organization says that specific locations for the regional rides will depend on the types of responses they receive to their call for team captains.

In addition to physical participants, the group is also in need of monetary support through personal donations and corporate sponsorships.

Anyone interested in participating in a ride or in donating funds or sponsorships should contact Casey Munck at Marketing Matters as soon as possible via e-mail or by calling (954) 925-1511.
