Dover, N.J. – Casio
America said Tuesday it will be the featured sponsor of
Panoramio’s monthly geo-tagging contest
as part of an effort to promote the just-released Hybrid-GPS EX-H20G digital
camera.
Panoramio users can now
submit photos with GPS location data in four categories for a chance to win up
to 28 prizes each month for the next six months.
Panoramio is Google’s geo-tagged photo-sharing website.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to partner with
Panoramio,” stated Toshi Iguchi, Casio America digital imaging division senior
general manager. “Celebrating the idea of geo-tagging, this contest is an ideal
venue for Casio to further communicate the unique capabilities of its
Hybrid-GPS technology to the geo-tagging community.”
Participants may submit up to five photos, each of which can be
voted on in the month following submission. Only geo-located photos in
Panoramio will be accepted. Four runners-up will be presented with an Eye-Fi SD
card, while 20 honorable mentions will each receive a Panoramio USB drive.
Casio’s 14.1-megapixel EX-H20G features sensor shift image
stabilization, 720p HD video, and a 24mm 10x optical zoom lens.
The integrated Hybrid-GPS system makes the EX-H20G the first
digital camera capable of geo-tagging images indoors, the company said.
Additionally, the EX-H20G can display the user’s current location
— as well as geo-tagged photos and videos — on a map that can be viewed on
the camera itself.
