Cardinal’s Ringel Dead At 79

Lodi, N.J. — Bill Ringel, industry veteran of more than 50 years, died June 17 of heart complications. He was 79.

Though Ringel began his adult life with a post-high-school stint in the Army, his professional career was spent in a sales capacity for a number of distribution companies in the New York/New Jersey area. He spent 15 years each at Dorosin Distributors and Universal Components. In the 1980s he started his own distribution company, AudioQuip/VideoQuip, which he ran until taking a position with Cardinal Electronics in 1990. Ringel managed accounts in Brooklyn and Queens for Cardinal until his retirement in June 2006.

“I think he was one of the last old style, hands-on salespeople, who maintained relationships with many of his clients for decades and took pride in his business contacts; always making a point to make weekly visits to each one,” Bill Lyons, Cardinal Electronics president, said of Ringel. “In all of my years in this business, I don’t think I ever met a kinder gentler man.”

Ringel was born in Coney Island on April 9, 1929. He is survived by his two adult children.
