Canon Unveils PowerShot Duo

introduced Thursday two new PowerShot digital point-and-shoot cameras — the S100
and SX40 HS.

Both models are available now and feature Canon’s new Digic 5
image processor, HS system, FullHD video capture, High-speed Burst HQ, and
Intelligent IS among other features.

The S100, which carries a $430 suggested retail, includes a
12.1-megapixel CMOS image sensor, 5x optical zoom lens starting with a 24mm f2
wide angle focal length, 3-inch LCD, up to 6400 ISO light sensitivity, FullHD
1080p video capture with a dedicated movie button, stereo sound and HDMI output,
and an optical image stabilizer. Super slow motion capability is also added.

It will capture still shots in RAW as well as JPEG formats, and offers
manual control override, and built-in GPS geo-tagging.

The auto picture settings include face detection in AF, AE, FE
and WB; subject tracking AF; and blink detection. Shooting modes include HDR and
handheld night scene shooting.

The SX40HS, which also carries a $430 suggested retail, features
a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and a 35x optical super zoom lens starting at a
24mm wide-angle focal length.

Also included is FullHD 1080 video recording with a dedicated
movie button, stereo sound and HDMI output, optical image stabilizer, an
articulating 2.7-inch Vari-angle LCD, up to 3200 ISO low light sensitivity, built-in
pop-up flash, 32 scene Smart Auto modes, a zoom framing assist function, and
manual control override.
