Melville, N.Y. – Canon today tied the introduction of several cameras and printers to the grand opening of its new headquarters on Tuesday, located here.

The new products were officially introduced by Elliot Peck, Canon’s senior VP and general manager of imaging technology, and his staff at the 700,000-square-foot office building on Long Island.

Canon is emphasizing connectivity and social media with its newest models, all of which have the ability to quickly and wirelessly share images to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other social-media sites.

All the cameras fall under the company’s PowerShot brand and include the G16, S120, SX510, SX170 and PowerShot N. Also, unveiled were the Pixma MG7120 and MG5520 wireless photo all-in-one printers. A new lens, the EF-S S5-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, will make its way to retail this fall.

The G16, S120, SX510 and PowerShot N all have built-in Wi-Fi and enhanced ability to upload images to a wide variety of social media sites. All also support the Android OS.

The G16t has as 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, a Digic 6 image sensor, 3-inch LCD and the ability to take 1080p/60p Full HD video. It will ship in October with a $549 suggested retail.

The S120, shipping in October with a $449 estimated street price, has the same feature set as the G16 with the addition of a 24-120mm extra-wide angle lens.

The G16 and S120 have Star Mode for capturing images at night without any focusing issues.

The SX510, $249 estimated street price, will ship in September. It features a 30x optical zoom for its 24mm wide-angle lens and Zoom Framing Assist that lets the user lock the cameras focus onto a particular face even if the camera’s frame of reference is moved. The camera is driven by a Digic 4 image sensor.

The SX710 IS, $179 estimated street price and shipping in September, is a bit smaller than its predecessor thanks to a new lithium-ion battery package.

The latest version of Canon’s PowerShot N features a button that directly sends an image to Facebook. The PowerShot N Facebook will carry a $299 price tag and will be available only from Canon directly.

Canon’s social-media message is even expressed with its two new printers, the MG7120 and MG5520. Each features a new Cloud-based Pixma Printing Solutions (PPS) app. The app allows remote printing from social-media sites via the printer, smartphone or tablet. The user can access and print images from both their own and their friends social media.

A Canon spokesperson said the app is a value-add that will help keep printing relevant. It also allows for simplified document printing.

The MG7120 carries a $199 price tag; it has a 9,600 dpi print resolution, 15-page per minute (ppm) print rate for text, and10 ppm for color. It has a 3.5-inch LCD and will come in four colors: white, black, red and brown.

The MG5120, $149, has a 2.5-inch LCD, slightly slower text and color print rates and come in black or white.

Both printers are now available.
