Canon Adds Hi-Res Image Scanner

Lake Success, N.Y.

Canon USA

introduced Tuesday its
highest-resolution color image scanner to date.

The
consumer-focused CanoScan 9000F ($250 suggested retail) features a high-speed
CCD and built-in professional film scanning to target consumers interested in
easily and safely preserving work or family images without sacrificing overall
image quality.

Maximum color
resolution is listed at 9,600 by 9600 dpi (film). An Auto Scan mode
automatically adjusts settings by detecting what is being scanned.

Canon also
includes its FARE Level 3 technology, which delivers automatic dust and scratch
removal while providing fading, grain and backlight correction.

Auto Document Fix
has been added to help maintain readability of important documents by sharpening
and blackening the text.

It will scan up to
four 35mm slides or 12 35mm filmstrips at one time.

Seven EZ Buttons are
added to quickly Auto Scan, copy, email or create a PDF file with the push of a
button.

Use of a white LED
eliminates warm-up time while decreasing power consumption, Canon said.
