Cambridge Audio Enters Bluetooth Speaker Market

Champlain, N.Y. — High-end component-audio supplier Cambridge Audio continues its diversification into tabletop digital-media speakers with the launch of its first Bluetooth-only speaker, a $149 portable AC/DC model.

It joins two recently launched high-power AC-only speakers that incorporate Bluetooth but also feature Wi-Fi, AirPlay and Internet radio streaming. Those models are the $499 100-watt Minx Air 100 and larger $599 200-watt Minx Air 200.

The new speaker is the compact two-way Minx Go, which is 4.8 inches tall and 9.3 inches wide and features scratch-resistant high-gloss finish in black or white. Key features include 18-hour lithium-ion battery that recharges in two hours, a pair of titanium tweeters, two 2-inch woofers, a back-panel passive bass radiator and an auxiliary input. To reduce distortion, Minx Go uses DSP and an acoustically damped cabinet, the company said.
