Buffalo Debuts External Hard Drives

Austin, Texas — Buffalo Technology has introduced its DriveStation Combo4 external hard drives, available with capacities of 320GB, 500GB or 1TB.

Each device comes equipped with four interfaces: eSATA, FireWire 400/800 and USB 2.0.

The drives feature Buffalo’s TurboUSB software, said to offer “20 percent faster transfer rates than most other USB drives on the market.” They also come with 7,200 rpm SATA drives.

The TurboUSB software includes Memeo TM AutoBackup Software and Buffalo’s SecureLockWare which encrypts Windows files and folders. The devices are said to be pre-formatted out of the box and are also said to not require drivers for installation.

Each device measures 1.42 inches by 5 inches by 8.94 inches and weighs slightly more than 3 pounds. Buffalo’s Heat Sink Chassis is said to provide effective internal cooling without the use of a fan.

The drives come with a limited one-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support. The 320GB and 500 GB models are available immediately for respective suggested retails of $149 and $189. The 1TB version will be available later in the month for a suggested $349.
