Bryston Adds Second Digital-Music Player

Peterborough, Ontario — Bryston’s latest digital music player for the home accommodates larger music libraries and offers faster loading times than the company’s current model, Bryston announced.

The BDP-2 at a suggested $2,995 ships in January, joining the current $1,995 BDP-1.

Both models play back digital music files residing on a USB storage device with up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution, and both connect to outboard DACs sold separately. The new model expands the number of USB 2.0 ports to six from four, all upgradable to USB 3.0. Other new expanded-storage capabilities include connectivity to an external eSATA hard drive, compatibility with an internal SATA drive, and network connection to a network-attached storage (NAS) drive.

In addition, the BDP-2 contains eight times the internal memory and three times the processing speed of the BDP-1.

The user interface and sonic performance remain the same, the company said.

Other BDP-2 features include RS232 ports to connect to home-control systems and two Gigabit Ethernet connections.
