Brett Allsop, 38, Dies

Bellingham, Wash. – Brett Allsop, president of the CE
accessory manufacturer bearing the family’s name, died last week at age 38.

Allsop, who was also the co-founder and chairman of travel Web
site Yapta.com, died in a single-car accident on Aug. 18.

Allsop attended Stanford
University, graduating in
1993, and founded his first business one year later, known as Fogdog Sports. In
2003 he returned to Bellingham
to work at Allsop, and he co-founded Yapta three years later.

He is survived by his parents, his two children and their mother.

According to a Web site set up in Allsop’s honor, www.brettallsop.com,
a perpetual scholarship has been established “for Bellingham students who are interested in
pursuing a career in business and show the entrepreneurial spirit which Brett
embodied.” Donations may be made to Bellingham Dollars for Scholars c/o Brett
Allsop Memorial Scholarship, P.O.
Box 5213, Bellingham, WA 98227.

The site also said that a celebration of his life will be held at
Fairhaven Marine
Park, located at the end of Harris Street in Fairhaven, on Thursday,
Aug. 27 at 3:00 p.m.. A reception will follow. Directions to the park and the
ability to post messages to the Allsop family are available on the Web site.
