Best Buy Readies 4G Thunderbolt Exclusive

Minneapolis – Best Buy will be
the exclusive national retailer of the HTC Thunderbolt, the first smartphone
for the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service, when it goes on sale in mid-February,
the chain said.

The Thunderbolt is already available for
pre-sale in Best Buy and all 158 Best Buy Mobile stand-alone stores nationwide.
Best Buy Mobile sections also appear in every Best Buy store.

Verizon previously announced plans for a total
of 10 4G LTE devices due in the first half to join the USB modems it launched
in December when it turned on its 700MHz LTE network in select markets. The 10
new devices consist of four Android smartphones, two Android tablets, two
mobile hot spots, a notebook computer and a netbook. All will offer 3G and 4G
service. The phones consisted of the LG Revolution smartphone, HTC Thunderbolt,
a Samsung smartphone and the Motorola Droid Bionic.

Separately, Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stand-alone
stores will reportedly open their doors at 7 a.m. Thursday to sell Verizon’s 3G
iPhone 4.
