Best Buy Launches Halloween Contest For ‘Scary’ CE

Minneapolis – Best Buy is inviting consumers to send in photos of
their old, clunky electronics in a “Scary Technology” contest that promotes the
retailer’s recycling and trade-in programs and inspires shoppers to buy new CE
goods.

Owners of the most outdated devices will be awarded prizes, including
a $3,500 Insignia home theater installed by Geek Squad and gift cards valued at
up to $1,500. Winners will be announced Oct. 31.

“With the increasing complexity of today’s technology, Best Buy
recognizes the need to provide our customers with the solutions to ensure they
are getting the most out of the products they purchase,” said Best Buy
executive VP and chief marketing officer Barry Judge. “This includes our
commitment to provide end-of-life options for these devices by offering new
ways to recycle and trade in old or obsolete technology.”

Best Buy accepts most CE products for recycling at its stores,
and will also accept in-store and online trade-ins.

Consumers can submit their photos and descriptive captions from
Oct. 7-26 at www.scarytechnology.com,
where actress Zelda Rubenstein of “Poltergeist” fame hosts an introductory
video.
