Best Buy Breaks Rhapsody Deal With Stones Exclusive

New York – Best Buy, Real Networks and EMI Music inked a deal to offer The Rolling Stones’ post-1973 catalog through Rhapsody, RealNetworks’ online music service.

This represent the first time that such records as ‘Sticky Fingers’ and ‘Exile on Main Street’ are legally available in a downloadable format.

For a limited time, ending in early September, digital downloads of The Rolling Stones’ music were available only through Rhapsody, and Best Buy was the only brick-and-mortar retailer to sell Rhapsody subscriptions. The service, which costs $9.95 a month plus 79 cents per song, is being promoted at in-store interactive kiosks with a 14-day free trial offer. After this limited time period, the classic rock band’s music will be available through other online music services.
