Belkin Launches Wireless A/V Adapters

CEDIA Expo Indianapolis
– Belkin launched a new line of wireless home-theater products meant to
streamline the HDTV setup process.

The ScreenCast AV 4 wireless
A/V-to-HDTV adapter is designed to wirelessly connect up to four home-theater
devices to an HDTV from another location up to 100 feet away. It operates using
a transmitter connected to the device’s HDMI connection.

Suggested retail is
$249. It will be available in October.

The included IR emitter
connects to the ScreenCast AV transmitter and relays the signal from the A/V devices’
remote controls, Belkin said, permitting users to use the existing controllers
even when the devices are located in another room. The receiver can be wall
mounted if desired.

Belkin also introduced
its universal wireless HDTV adapter (model F7D4555) and universal wireless A/V
adapter (F7D4550), both of which can turn any Internet-ready TV into a
Wi-Fi-enabled TV. They reportedly work with all brands of Internet-ready TVs
and provide dual-band performance for better wireless signals and high-quality
3D and HD video streaming.

The HDTV adapter
($79.99, September) is designed specifically for smart-TV applications. It
operates via a USB cable that connects to any compatible smart TV, and can be
mounted anywhere on the back of the TV through the Ethernet port, Belkin said.

The A/V adapter is engineered
to connect up to four A/V devices for streaming to multiple components. Devices
are connected to the adapter, which uses the user’s existing home Internet
network. Suggested retail is $99.99; it will also be available in September.
