Santa Monica, Calif. — Beats Electronics has named Matthew Costello as COO.
Costello takes the COO title from Beats president Luke Wood, who was named to the board of directors.
Costello will oversee the company’s global operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, sales operations, quality control, Beats retail stores, e-commerce and information technology. He will “play an instrumental role alongside Wood to build and execute a global strategy that drives the company’s growing market share and international expansion,” according to a company statement.
Costello was most recently head of group strategic development for IKEA, and he has held positions at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications and HTC. While at HTC, he served as the primary liaison between HTC and Beats when the smartphone maker purchased a 51 percent equity stake in Beats in 2011.
HTC sold its stake back to Beats in September.
