Bassett Credenzas To Integrate Boston Acoustics Soundbar

Mahway, N.J. – Furniture maker Bassett
will embed a Boston Acoustics soundbar in a series of Nvelop credenzas for
flat-panel TVs, Boston Acoustics announced.

Four credenzas, scheduled to be
available through Bassett distribution channels sometime later this year, will incorporate
the Boston Acoustics TVee Model 25 soundbar to improve the sound quality of TV programs and TV-connected video
sources. It also delivers virtual 5.1-channel surround sound.

Model 25’s wireless subwoofer will
be included with the credenzas, which will also include a wire management
system and acoustical grille cloth.

The credenzas are positioned as
delivering “big sound” with “no clutter” to give consumers a no-hassle way to
improve the low-quality audio performance of ever-thinner flat-panel TVs,
Boston Acoustics said. With that simplicity in mind, the soundbar learns the
remote commands of a consumer’s existing TV or cable remote, enabling the
remote to control soundbar functions.

The soundbar combines 5.1-channel Dolby Digital decoder with
proprietary Digitally Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS) surround processing to
deliver virtual center and surround speakers. DOVS also digitally derives 5.1
channels from 2.0-channel sources. Model 25 connects to TV set’s optical digital outputs and features auxiliary RCA stereo
and 3.5mm inputs.

Pricing was unavailable. More
details will be revealed next week.
