Azione Grades Itself After 75 Days

West Chester, Pa. - Azione Unlimited, the buying group for integrators and custom retailers developed by industry veteran Richard Glikes, gave itself an "overwhelmingly successful" first 75 days in operation. 

In an outline of the developments of the group led by its president and founder, Glikes, who was the longtime head of the Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA), said Azione is "unique" in that vendors are members and serve on its board and that conferences will be regional as well as national.

 Among the highlights noted by the group in its first 75 days:

  • Sales have surpassed the $100 million volume mark.
  • "Our lineup of strong vendor members is currently 24 and we are finalizing plans with three additional vendors this week," the group said.
  • Membership acquisition "has been very successful," the group said, with dealers responding "very well" to the dues of $750 per quarter.  "Nearly 75 percent of our dealer members were not in a group prior to joining Azione," the group said.

Its CEDIA Dealer Meeting and Dealer/Vendor Cocktail party have been finalized. Plans for the national conference in the summer have begun in earnest, the group statement said.

Glikes commented, "There is obviously a huge hole in the market for a buying group like Azione to fill. It is easy to attract dealers with the right combination of deep vendor programs, the best TV prices, and sharing that create value beyond expense.
