Azione Begins Membership Drive

West Chester, Pa.  - Azione Unlimited (AU), the start-up buying group for custom retailers and integrators led by Richard Glikes, has opened its books to new members.

Glikes, the former executive director of the Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA), has developed a data base of over 700 potential dealers who will receive a series of three email blasts and a direct mail piece encouraging them to join.

Glikes said membership will be limited to no more than 250 dealers. Qualifications include:

  • a minimum of three years in business;
  • sales volume of $1.5 million to $30 million dollars a year;
  • a strong desire to grow their businesses and share ideas, and;
  • a willingness to focus on group vendors.

Dues are $4,000 a year, which provides manufacturer's incentives and rebates, a free marketing allowance, complimentary conferences, and increased bottom-line profits, Glikes said.

"Our goal is be national in scope with dealers in every state," he noted. "We want to be the launch vehicle for new technologies and products. Sharing is our core value, and dues are modest."

Glikes, president and founder of Azione, had led HTSA as executive director for the past 15 years before leaving in a contract dispute last August.

Azione, which is the Italian word for "action," will have a maximum of 250 non-competing dealer members nationwide as well as 32 vendors that would also be designated as members, Glikes has indicated. The group, based here, will be built upon a combination of progressive vendor programs, sharing of best practices, leading-edge marketing, and extensive interaction between dealer and vendor members, he said. It is set to formally debut on Jan. 2.
