Audiovox “Shutterball” Allows Better Selfies

Hauppauge, N.Y. – Audiovox Electronics introduced Monday a remote shutter for smartphone cameras called “Shutterball.”

The remote shutter is designed to help smartphone users take “selfies,” for posting on social networks like Instagram.

The company said more than 36 million photos on Instagram are tagged #selfie, 98 million are tagged #me and countless others are list self-identifying hashtags, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. 

Audiovox said the Shutterball helps to simplify the process of taking self portraits on smartphones, which often have camera shutter buttons in places that are difficult to see or reach when taking a “selfie.”

ShutterBall is a Bluetooth powered remote shutter control that pairs with your smartphone via an app and allows taking selfies, group shots and videos.

ShutterBall is compatible with iPhones and Samsung smartphone models, and triggers the smartphone for both still shots and videos.

It also provides better control for blur-free group shots at a distance of up to 60 feet. The device is coin cell battery operated and provides up to 5-year battery life with Bluetooth Low Energy.

ShutterBall includes a stand/easel to prop up the smartphone.

ShutterBall is currently available in green, pink, blue and black colors at Toys “R” Us, and at a $24.99 suggested retail. More dealers will be named shortly.
