Dallas – In addition to
made at Knowledgefest over the weekend, Audiovox is
also previewing a smartphone app and remote-start module at the show.
Knowledgefest is being held at the Gaylord Texan Hotel and
Conference Center from Oct. 10-12 is hosted by the Mobile Electronics Retailers
Association (MERA).
Industry sources told TWICE the Carlink system is a direct
plug-in installation for more than 90 percent of the Prestige-, Code Alarm- and
Pursuit-brand products, or any system with Audiovox’s Telematics Data Port
feature.
Sources believe the features of the Carlink system include lock,
unlock, remote start, car find, alarm trigger, control trunk release and
sliding-door control. It also is said to be able to be hard wired to any
competitor’s alarm or remote-start system with limited functionality.
Suggested retail is expected to be $249, which will include the
first year of service, and the second year of service will be $29.99.
At launch, which is expected Nov. 1, the Carlink system will
reportedly have an app for iPhone, BlackBerry and Android phones. Website
access will also be available.
