AudioControl Readies Car DSP Unit

Seattle — AudioControl plans shipments this month of its first car audio digital signal processor with signal delay to align a person’s soundstage position between the output of the left and right speakers and between the front and subwoofer channels.

The $399-suggested DQ-61, designed to upgrade factory sound systems, also features 21 discrete bands of equalization, proprietary AccuBass circuit to automatically correct for the bass roll-off common in factory sound systems, and six channels of active speaker-level inputs that each accept up to 400 watts per channel. Discrete input- and output-level controls are included.

TheACR-3 dashboard remote control controls subwoofer level and processing on/off. Internal channel summing enables easier interfacing with factory-installed amplifiers with built-in crossovers, the company said.

The DQ-61 powers up when it detects signal on the main speaker-level input.
