Tidal CD-Quality Streaming Coming to U.S.

Oslo, Norway – Aspiro Group, which offers the CD-quality WiMP HiFi music service in Europe, will bring its CD-quality streaming to the U.S. with the launch of the Tidal service in the fall.

The service will be available through computers as well as through home audio products from 16 brands. They are Sonos, Denon HEOS, Harman Omni, Bluesound and NAD, Meridian, Auralic, Electrocompaniet, Simple Audio, Raumfeld, Dynaudio, Audiovector, Pro- ject, Airable by Tune In Media, HiFiAkademie and ickStream. The company said “many more household names” will be announced soon.

The service also delivers music videos with HD video through web-browsing computers and iOS and Android apps for smartphones and tablets.

Tidal is an ad-free $19.99/month subscription service that delivers more than 25 million music tracks in lossless 16-bit/44.1kHz FLAC and ALAC. It also offers more than 75,000 music videos.

Tidal CEO Andy Chen said the company would offer Tidal “across the broadest selection of home audio systems with these premium partners and more to come.”

Tidal will be the second CD-quality streaming service to hit the U.S. market.

At the CEDIA Expo, Paris-based Deezer announced plans to offer its Elite 44.1kHz/16-bit FLAC streaming service only through Sonos systems sold by integrators. Integrators get a $50 commission for signing customers for to a subscription.

Deezer’s FLAC service is available and will be followed by other levels of service,
