Calabasas, Calif. – DTS-HD surround is coming to the Starz Play, Encore Play, and Movieplex Play video-streaming services available through Microsoft’s Xbox One.
The launch of the surround-sound format through the Starz services marks the first time that authenticated online TV Everywhere services are available with DTS-HD soundtracks, DTS said.
The Play services offer free online access to more than 2,000 movies, original shows, and TV episodes available from the Starz, Encore, and Movieplex programming available through cable- and satellite-TV subscriptions.
DTS-HD soundtracks are also available with CinemaNow streams and the Ultraflix Streaming Network. Both services also support the Dolby Digital Plus surround format, as do the Starz Play services.
DTS-HD is a low-bit-rate format designed for efficient streaming and downloading over the Internet.
It’s also available with downloadable movies that use the UltraViolet Common File Format (CFF).
