New York – Both
Audio-Technica and Panasonic introduced headphones on Wednesday.
Audio-Technica added
four models to its Solid Bass line, including two over-ear and two-in ear
models.
All four headphones use
the company’s Double Air Chamber system, which features an additional chamber
to help control and focus the air flow and bass output, the company said.
The ATH-CKS77 in-ear
headphones feature 12.5mm drivers and a two-position earphone. They have a
titanium construction and come with four sizes of ear cushions. The ATH-CKS55
has similar specs as the ATH-CSK77, but its price drops down to $69.95. When
asked about the differences between the two, Crystal Griffith, consumer
marketing manager for the company, said the manufacturing and materials are a
lot more precise in the more expensive model. “There is a much richer
tonality,” she told TWICE at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Line
Shows event.
The same is true with
the over-ear models, the ATH-WS70 ($149) and ATH-WS55 ($99.95). Both have 40mm
drivers and foldable designs, but the ATH-WS70 features an aluminum housing.
All models are black,
and the ATH-WS55 is also available in black/red (ATH-WS55BRD). They are
currently available, except for the ATH-black/red model, which will be
available in July.
Panasonic introduced three
different headphones — a noise-canceling model, a DJ-style model and an in-ear
model.
The noise-canceling
RP-HC720 has 40mm drivers and a frequency response range of 10Hz to 30kHz. The
headphones do operate when the active noise-canceling is turned off. Suggested
retail is $199, and a carrying case and airplane adapter are included.
The DJ headphones,
RP-DJS400E, come in a variety of colors and feature ear cups that can swivel
out. The in-ear headphones, model RP-HSC200E, have 12.5mm drivers.
