AT&T, Verizon Cite 4G iPad Sales

New York –
AT&T said it set a new single-day record for sales of cellular-equipped
iPads on Friday when it began selling the 4G-equipped “new iPad,” and Verizon
Wireless said it is “quite pleased with sales” of the 4G tablet so far.

On the first
day of the 4G iPad’s availability, AT&T said it “set a new single-day
record for its iPad sales and activations, demonstrating robust demand for the
new iPad on the nation’s largest 4G network, covering nearly 250 million
people.”

For
its part, Verizon said, “We are quite pleased with sales, which have
been brisk [through direct channels] through the weekend, and we are excited to
offer customers an alternative that lets them enjoy their new iPad on the
nation’s largest 4G LTE network.” The spokesperson also said the carrier is
also “pleased
with sales from all channels.”
