AT&T Readies 3rd 4G LTE Phone

Dallas – AT&T plans Dec. 4
availability of its third 4G LTE smartphone, the $249 LG Nitro HD.

With a high-definition 1,280 by 720
display, the Nitro will be the carrier’s first smartphone with HD display. It
will be available exclusively through AT&T stores and the carrier’s website.

The company’s first two LTE
smartphones are the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and the HTC Vivid, which
launched in early November at $249 and $199, respectively.

The Nitro features Android 2.3
(Gingerbread) OS, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 4.5-inch 16:9 AH-IPS (Advanced
High-Performance In-Plane Switching) display for a wide viewing angle, and
other technologies to deliver high levels of color accuracy, brightness, and
battery efficiency, the carrier said. The technology includes 500-nit display
luminance to enable clear viewing in direct sunlight and RGB stripe pixels for
accurate color rendering, the carrier added.

The HTC Vivid, in contrast,
boasts dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 4.5-inch qHD (960 by 540) display. The
Samsung Skyrocket features a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 4.5-inch
SuperAMOLED Plus (800 by 480) display. Both also use the Gingerbread OS.

The Nitro’s slim chassis measures
5.27 inches by 2.67 inches by 0.41 inches and packs an 8-megapixel HD camera,
20GB of total memory (4GB embedded plus 16GB via included MicroSD card, Wi-Fi
Direct technology and DLNA certification.
