AT&T Prices LG’s Quad-Core Optimus G

Dallas – AT&T announced pricing and availability of the previously announced LG Optimus G, which is AT&T’s first quad-core LTE smartphone.

The Optimus G will be available in stores Nov. 2 at $199 with two-year contract. Pre-orders start Tuesday, Oct. 16, at att.com/optimusg.

The Android 4.0 (Ice Cream sandwich) phone features quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 4.7-inch 15:9 WXGA True HD IPSPlus display with 1,280 by 768 pixels, 32GB of memory, 2GB RAM, nearfield communications (NFC), Mobile High-definition Link (MHL) output, Wi-Fi and DLNA certification.

The Optimus G also features cross-tasking, or QSlide, which enables the display of two applications simultaneously on one screen. Because the entire screen of each app is displayed, a user can complete two tasks concurrently, such as sending a text message while watching a video, the company said.

The Optimus G delivers longer battery life, a thinner profile and a brighter display compared with previous LG models.

AT&T senior product manager Kiran Kalakuntla said the combination of processor and RAM means that “from loading web pages, to apps and games, it will get you to what you want, faster.”

The phone’s specs also made possible the QSlide and Live Zooming features, he said. Live Zooming lets users zoom in and out of videos playing back.

Like all AT&T’s smartphones, Optimus G lets users talk and surf the web at the same time with simultaneous voice and data, he noted.
