AT&T Plans LTE-Equipped Galaxy Note 8.0

Dallas –AT&T plans to offer an LTE-equipped version of Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet in the coming weeks.

The company did not disclose a price or exact availability date.

The Note 8.0 is the first 8-inch tablet in the Note series, which features an S Pen, or stylus, that lets users annotate pictures and files with handwritten messages. The stylus also lets users draw pictures on screen and preview files or email messages when they hover the S Pen over a file or message indicator.

The Note series consists of the Note 10.1 tablet, the 8.0 tablet, and the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II phablet. The 8.0 was unveiled early this year at the Mobile World Congress.

The Wi-Fi-only version of the Note 8.0 became available in April at a suggested $399 through multiple retailers.

Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular offer the LTE-equipped version of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.

AT&T said it offers the widest selection of cellular-equipped tablets of any U.S. carrier. The carrier also said its LTE network covers more than 200 million people in the U.S. and will expand to reach 300 million people by the end of 2014.
