AT&T Gets SonyEricsson Vivaz HD Smartphone

Atlanta – SonyEricsson will launch its first
U.S. smartphone with HD video capture on Sept. 5 through AT&T.

The Symbian-based Vivaz,

unveiled earlier this year

, will be available for $79.99
with two-year agreement after $50.00 mail-in rebate through AT&T-owned
stores and AT&T’s



The Vivaz is SonyEricsson’s second smartphone for AT&T following

Aug. 15

of the Xperia X10 Android
smartphone through the carrier.

The Vivaz is a 3G HSPA-equipped touchscreen phone that operates on
the Symbian S50 fifth-edition OS, lacks hard QWERTY keyboard, and features 720p
video recording through its 8.1-megapixel camera/camcorder. It operates in
AT&T’s 850/1900MHz network and foreign 2.1GHz 3G networks.

Vivaz is the second phone in the company’s U.S. portfolio, following
the Xperia X10, to adopt a new design called “human curvature,” which mirrors
the shape of the human body.

Other Vivaz features include
multitasking, Wi-Fi, VGA-resolution TV output, ability to upload HD video via
Wi-Fi through preloaded YouTube and Picasa apps, DLNA certification for audio
and photo sharing in a home network, face and smile detection, media player,
assisted GPS, geo-tagging, stereo Bluetooth, Microsoft Exchance ActivSync, FM
radio, and 3.2-inch wide color LCD display with 640 by 360 resolution. A single application lets users
connect to Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Vlingo voice-recognition interface web
searches and
composing notes, and separate quick camera keys are
available for
shooting video and photos

AT&T’s hot spot network.

The Vivaz is the
second SonyEricsson smartphone to make it to AT&T in recent weeks. The

Xperia X10

first Android-based smartphone for the U.S. market, became available through
AT&T Aug. 15 at AT&T retail stores, authorized retailers and
