Assurant Mining The Millenials

LAS VEGAS – Extended-service contract provider Assurant Solutions sees fresh opportunities for retailers in serving the CE protection needs of millennials.

Senior VP Jeff Unterreiner said the company’s extensive research has provided unique insights into this 18- to 33-year-old demographic, including the fact that millenials purchase more consumer electronics than any other generation.

“Millennials are savvy shoppers and successfully maintaining relationships with them past the point of sale requires a specific approach in today’s market,” Unterreiner told TWICE in an email. “Protection matters to them when it comes to their consumer electronics, and an effective extended-warranty program with appropriate benefits is vital to keeping them brand-loyal shoppers.”

In other Assurant news, the company held its annual International CES reception last month high atop the Palms Casino Resort at Ghostbar.

“We had many productive conversations with our clients at CES, especially as relates to millennials,” Unterreiner noted.

Elsewhere, Protect Your Bubble, a direct-to-consumer insurance unit of Assurant, announced a trio of recent hires. Duy Vu, formerly of 360i and Response Mine Interactive, was named SEO (search engine optimization) manager; Nicole Ibsen, who honed her customer service and development skills at Assurant, was appointed customer service advocate; and former UPS global website developer Jessica Roberts was named content curator.
