Artison, which markets attachable loudspeakers for flat-panel TVs, announced its new Nano Backpack P5 speaker will debut at CEDIA and will ship to dealers in December.

The P5 is the final version of the surround sound processor/amplifier that the company previewed in 2015, with multiple enhancements added at the recommendation of Artison dealers.

“Last year, we rolled into CEDIA with a Backpack prototype and a call to our dealers to comment on what they like and what should be added,” said Cary Christie, president and founder of Artison. “Not surprising, they loved the concept and gave us pointers for the final version that will be on display in the booth.”

The Nano Backpack P5 is a compact, thin audio hub that mounts behind a display, on a wall, in a wall, or on a shelf, with 100-watt left, center and right channels and 50-watt LR/RR output for audiophile-grade sonics.

It boasts a form factor of just 1.1 inches by 11.7 inches by 11.7 inches.

Five internal Class D amplifiers power passive LCR and surround channels using Continuous Sigma Technology. Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby ProLogic II/IIx decoding ensure compatibility with the most popular surround formats, and internal 2.4/5.8 GHz antennas provide glitch-free access to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices.

Designed to accept nearly any currently available source, the Backpack P5’s array of inputs includes HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, Toslink, a 3.5mm stereo minijack and RJ45. The HDMI output (ARC/CED/3D/4K) pass-through makes the Backpack P5 easy to integrate into a single-room system, the company said.

Added Christie: “The Nano Backpack P5 is just the beginning in a series of Artison products that deliver high-performance audio without overpowering a room’s aesthetics.”

The Artison Nano Backpack P5 will ship in December at a suggested retail of $1,199.
