Apex Introduces Digitrex Brand For Its DigiCams

Apex Digital has entered into the digital camera market with two low-cost, CMOS-based cameras under the “Digitrex” brand name.

The higher-end 2.1-megapixel DSC2100 features a 1.6-inch TFT color LCD screen and stereo MP3 player. It takes CompactFlash memory and also includes a self-timer, video clip capture mode, seven-second audio memory, continual 4x digital zoom, adjustable screen brightness, adjustable exposure, built-in flash and is tripod mountable.

The DSC2100 is shipping now for a suggested retail of $139.95.

The Digitrex DSC1300 sports the same feature set as the DSC2100, but with 1.3-megapixel resolution and a continual 2x digital zoom. It is also shipping now for a suggested retail price of $99.95.

According to the company, the digital camera strategy will track closely with the company’s DVD player approach, offering customers and dealers “more value for the price in the digital camera marketplace.”
