Irvine, Calif. – TCL-owned Alcatel One Touch plans to offer an unlocked big-screen Android smartphone, the One Touch Idol, on June 15 through its website at $299.
It is the first unlocked device that Alcatel One Touch is selling in the U.S.
The slim, lightweight Android 4.1 Jelly Bean phone shown at International CES in January, is a 3G phone with 4.7-inch qHD 540×960 IPS display. It weighs only 110 grams (3.88 ounces) and is 7.9mm (0.31-inches) thick. (Click here for more details on features.)
Alcatel went to the recent CTIA convention to outline its plans to transition from a feature-phone provider to a provider of low- to mid-tier smartphones with high-end industrial design, practical high-technology features, and pricing that will enable carriers to reduce their handset subsidies.
